Index of refraction: The number represents how much slower the light travels through a material compared to thin air. The slower it does, the more it bends, and the less thickness is required.
Chromatic aberration, on the other hand, arises from the material’s varying refractive index for different colors of light. This phenomenon causes blurring or color fringing in images, especially at high-contrast edges. Minimizing chromatic aberration requires using specialized optical materials and lens designs that provide more uniform dispersion of light across wavelengths.
These are the things to consider when choosing lenses for clear vision. Thickness, optical performance or ophthalmic qualities like chromatic aberration.
